Adult Faith Formation

Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation together constitute the sacraments of Christian initiation. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit- his actions, his gifts, and his bidding – in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life.” 

The Becoming Catholic Program, formerly known as RCIA, is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, also referred to as the Baptismal Catechumenate. This program serves as the pathway for individuals who are undergoing a spiritual transformation and are seeking to either receive Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or attain full Communion with the Catholic tradition through Eucharist and Confirmation.

At St. Thomas More, we offer a two-day program for engaged couples called Engagement Experience. This program is required for all couples getting married at St. Thomas More. It is also available for couples who are planning to get married at another Catholic Church.

Dealing with loss can be a difficult and challenging process, and navigating through grief is a journey that is best not traveled alone. A GriefShare group offers a safe and supportive space for individuals in search of comfort during this trying time. We have several upcoming opportunities to help you along this path.

The celebration of baptism begins the initiation and faith journey of your child and is a joyful experience for our community of faith as it brings new life into our parish. Having your child baptized also marks the beginning of new responsibilities and commitment on the part of you, the parents, and the St. Thomas More Catholic Community. Through this sacrament, our goal is to journey with you and your family in support of your family’s spiritual needs. It is our honor and pleasure to accompany you as you begin to pass on the faith to your child. We take these responsibilities and commitments very seriously and are excited to partner with you in the faith formation of your child.

All relationships develop as two persons pay attention to each other. Spiritual direction seeks to enable a person to be more attentive to God. It is a conversation in which the Spiritual Director helps the person seeking spiritual direction, the "directee," to grow in his/her relationship with God, by noticing how God is revealed through the unique circumstances of their everyday life and prayer. The focus of a spiritual session is on enabling the directee to notice and respond to the presence of God in all of life. It is as simple and as profound as that!
